Generative AI in Our Hiring Process
Transparency, fairness, and responsible use
Application stage
We recognize that many candidates use generative AI tools when preparing application materials. When used thoughtfully, these tools can help you communicate more clearly.
It's appropriate to use AI to:
Refine your writing after drafting your own ideas
Check grammar, clarity, and tone
Explore formatting suggestions for your resume or cover letter
Ensure consistency across your application materials
Privacy reminder: Before entering documents into AI tools, consider removing personal information (such as your name, address, or phone number) to protect your data.
What Not to Use AI For
We want to understand your authentic experience, perspective, and capabilities. Your application should reflect your own work and voice.
Please avoid:
Submitting AI-generated content that does not accurately represent your background or skills
Copying AI responses verbatim without personalizing them
Relying on AI to create materials you cannot confidently discuss
Overuse of AI may leave you unprepared to expand on your experience during interviews. It may also unintentionally misrepresent your skills, making it more difficult to assess mutual fit.
Portfolio and Creative Work
If you are applying for a role that requires a writing sample, creative portfolio, or code submission, we expect the work submitted to reflect your own skills and original contributions (unless the role specifically permits the use of collaborative AI tools).
If generative AI was used in any part of your submission, please clearly disclose how it was used.
Interviews and Assessments
-
Permitted uses of AI (Preparation Stage)
We encourage thoughtful preparation. Generative AI tools can support you in preparing for interviews and assessments. You're welcome to use AI to:
- Research our company, values, and industry
- Review common interview questions and practice responses
- Understand the structure of interviews or assessments
-
Not Permitted During the Selection Process
To ensure a fair and equitable experience for all candidates, the following are not permitted:
- Using AI tools during live or recorded interviews
- Relying on AI-generated scripts or answers during assessments
- Receiving real-time AI assistance while completing any part of the selection process
AI can be a helpful preparation tool. However, interviews and assessments are designed to understand your individual skills, judgment, and communication style. We ask that you use AI only as a preparation support, not as a substitute for your own responses.
If we determine that AI has been used to misrepresent experience or complete parts of the process dishonestly, we may remove the candidate from consideration.
How Fenix Outdoor Uses Generative AI
Just as we provide guidance on how candidates may use generative AI responsibly, we believe in being transparent about how we use these tools in our recruitment process.
We may use generative AI to assist with drafting and refining materials such as job advertisements, outreach messages, and other written communications. These tools support clarity and efficiency, but they do not replace human judgment, review, or care.
We do not use AI to:
Make hiring, promotion, or employment decisions
Automatically screen, select, or reject applicants
Replace the human conversations that define our interview process
AI is a tool that helps us work more effectively. People make the decisions. Our commitment is to provide every candidate with a fair, thoughtful, and human-centered experience.
Let’s Meet the Real You
At Fenix Outdoor, we're not looking for perfection. We're looking for people who act with integrity, care about their work, and bring their authentic experience to the process.
Generative AI can support how you prepare and communicate, but it should not replace your voice. Show us your perspective, your judgment, and your potential.
We look forward to learning more about you.
